The second edition of the “TAIWAN PHOTO Taiwan Photography Art Fair” will be held from October 5 to October 10 this year, spanning the weekend and National Day holiday, at Hall A11 of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Xinyi New World. The fair is Taiwan’s only art fair dedicated exclusively to “photography as a medium,” organized by 1839 Contemporary Gallery and featuring participation from numerous domestic and international galleries.

The fair will feature Japanese photographer Hal (Photographer Hal) and British photographer Thomas Hodges, both focusing on portrait photography but employing distinct artistic approaches. Photographer Hal presents a unique vacuum-like depiction of figures to portray the intimate emotions of modern couples, while Thomas Hodges explores the unique theme of political propaganda in his creative work. In addition to the special curated sections for these two artists, the fair also invites important international galleries and domestic galleries to collaborate and participate together.
Taiwan currently hosts various types of art fairs, but the most distinctive feature of this edition is its exclusive focus on “photography as a medium.” The fair will adopt an approach that gives equal emphasis to both exhibitors and photographers. On one hand, it provides professional exhibition space for participating galleries, and on the other, it offers special curated sections for individual photographers. This dual focus balances commercial promotion with educational outreach, allowing collectors and visitors to gradually gain an understanding of contemporary photographic art and the current state of the international art market. Orders placed between now and September 17 are eligible for an early bird discount of 20%, with tickets priced at 120 NTD.
