To promote green harbors and low-carbon transportation, the Institute of Transportation under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, National Sun Yat-sen University, and Taiwan International Ports Corporation will host the “Green Harbor Festival – Low-Carbon Lohas Lifestyle” event from 9:00 to 17:00 on Saturday, September 22, at the Training Center on the west side of the Pier-2 Wharf in Kaohsiung Harbor (next to Pier-2 Art Center), organized by the Taiwan International Ports Corporation. Through methods such as photography exhibitions, creative proposals, DIY paper umbrella workshops, and second-hand charity sales, the event aims to explore topics like energy conservation and carbon reduction in transportation infrastructure, environmental regeneration, and sustainable operations, moving toward the goal of becoming a “Green Port.”

To promote the Green Harbor Festival, special zones such as the “Harbor City Photography” and “Interactive Exhibition” areas have been set up to collect impressions and perceptions of the harbor city from citizens and various groups. At 13:00–14:00 on the day of the event, scholars will be invited to discuss the impact of green harbors on the Kaohsiung metropolitan area.

On the day of the event, a charity second-hand sale and Meinong paper umbrella DIY activities will also be held outside the Training Center of Taiwan International Ports Corporation. Visitors can browse and purchase second-hand items, with all proceeds and donation receipts going to the Genesis Hospice Care Foundation for patients in vegetative states. Additionally, participants who fill out the “Kaohsiung Harbor Pier-2 Wharf Future Blueprint Questionnaire” can take part in the Meinong paper umbrella DIY activity that day, sharing in the joy of a low-carbon, lohas lifestyle.
