The Pengwan Cross-Sea Bridge has turned into a rainbow bridge. In addition to its holiday drawbridge shows, the nation’s first opening movable bridge now has a new highlight: the Dapeng Bay Scenic Area Administration has created a “light sculpture” project that uses colorful LED lights to project dynamic effects, transforming the Pengwan Cross-Sea Bridge under the night sky into a dazzling rainbow bridge. Starting at 16:00 on October 13, a “Lighting Up Dapeng Bay – Pengwan Cross-Sea Bridge Light Sculpture Lighting Concert” will be held at the mangrove ecological park under the northern end of the bridge, featuring performances by the Dahhan Orchestra, indigenous dance troupes, energetic taiko drumming, the Zuyun Cultural Music and Dance Troupe, and a fireworks show. The bridge drawbridge show will take place at 17:00, followed by the light show at 18:30.

The landscape lighting for the Pengwan Cross-Sea Bridge took six months to install, featuring at least 2,600 various types of LED lights. Different lighting effects are projected onto the main bridge tower, sides, belly, and piers, creating a rainbow-like appearance across Dapeng Bay as the colorful lights shine. To promote energy conservation and carbon reduction, the daily electricity cost for the light sculpture display is only about 1,000 yuan.
The entire light show features 30 different variation combinations. The Dapeng Bay Administration plans to introduce a new color each day, cycling through the seven colors of the rainbow—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet—every day from 18:00 until 21:05, with a 5-minute performance at each full hour. Special adjustments will be made for holidays and special events, and sound effects will be incorporated in the future to enhance the audiovisual experience of the light show.
