To promote Japanese tourism and local specialties, Hokkaido and various prefectures in Northeastern Japan will jointly hold the largest-scale Japanese regional tourism and specialty products exhibition in Taiwan—the "Divine Feast ~ Messages from Hokkaido and Northeastern Japan" event—at the 2nd floor of Taipei World Trade Center from October 27–28. During the event, visitors can sample authentic Japanese delicacies such as Ishikari Nabe, senbei soup, and soba noodles, as well as purchase famous local products from Hokkaido and Northeastern Japan, including handmade grilled squid strips, cherry milk candy, and apple desserts. In addition, attendees of the opening event at Taipei 101’s B1 South Plaza on October 27 will receive specialty products from Hokkaido and Northeastern Japan, and those with promotional flyers will have a chance to participate in a lucky draw.

During the two-day promotion event for Hokkaido and Northeastern Japan tourism and specialties, participants can not only shop for regional specialties but also enjoy local dishes from these areas, including the iconic Hokkaido home-style dish Ishikari Nabe, Aomori Prefecture’s senbei soup—which often ranks high in Japan’s B-1 Grand Prix food competition—Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture’s mentaiko udon, one of the “Three Great Noodles of Morioka,” Akita Prefecture’s grilled rice roll hot pot beloved for its homely flavor, Miyagi Prefecture’s 300-year-old history-rich wanmen noodles, Yamagata Prefecture’s taro beef hot pot, and Niigata Prefecture’s renowned kakinoha soba, among many other authentic Japanese delicacies.

Additionally, on October 28, at the Gravity Performance Hall on B3 of Core Pacific City, the “Japan Travel Festival — Northeastern / Northern Kanto Tourism Exhibition” will also take place, featuring the latest tourism and specialty information from participating prefectures, a rich variety of locally distinctive...performances such as the Sansa Dance, and opportunities for the public to try making traditional folk art from the Northeast. The Sansa Dance from Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture, originates from the legend of the Three Stones. According to the tale, the god of the Three Stones subdued a mischievous demon plaguing Morioka, and demanded that the demon press its handprint and vow never to cause harm again on three local rocks. The joyful crowd then danced around the stones, singing cheerful “sasa sasa” songs—believed to be the origin of the Sansa Dance. After being passed down through generations, the dance was designated as an intangible cultural asset of Morioka City.
