Taichung has recently been bringing creativity and art into its neighborhoods, giving the city a fresh new look. In addition to the previously launched “Create. Art. Central District,” the city has also created the Grassjog Boulevard area under the concept of “Neighborhood Art Gallery, Neighborhood Treasure Hunt Fun.” From now until November 30, the “Neighborhood Creativity Clash – Grassjog Art Street” event will be held. The event includes master-level street installation artworks, student creative works, street cosplay performances and guided tours, as well as special discounts from featured shops. Among the displays is an art piece by Chen Zhonghong, winner of a New York International Advertising Gold Award, who painted nine window panels on a large 10m×7m wall. The work is combined with designated nearby shops to offer consumer discounts and other promotions.

Among the master-level street installation artworks, the Cultural Affairs Bureau invited Chen Zhonghong, winner of a New York International Advertising Gold Award, and Wu Chuanzhi, director of Formosan Era Village, to respectively decorate the local and exotic flavors of Grassjog Boulevard through storytelling and painting stories. On a large 10m×7m wall, Chen Zhonghong painted nine window panels that, from afar, look like real windows. When you “open” the windows, you’ll find penguins, reindeer, and more joining the vibrant diversity of Grassjog Boulevard. Wu Chuanzhi used street scenes of Grassjog Boulevard as his subject, creating two fun pieces titled “Old General Store” and “Telephone Pole,” juxtaposing past and present, mixing time and space to create an interesting contrast.
The street cosplay performances and guided tours are combined with exclusive discounts at featured shops. Multiple well-known anime characters will take turns providing creative guided tours. During the event period, every Saturday and Sunday from 3:00–7:00 PM, every half hour, cosplay performers will conduct creative guided tours, leading the public to stroll around the neighborhood and introduce the installation artworks. These include Sherry / Sherry 'Madison / Maid Version and VOCALOID / Hatsune Miku / Shrine Maiden Version on the 24th; Tiger & Bunny / Asuka Tanaka / School Uniform Version and Lucky Star / g-Shindan? Carry? Her, etc., on the 25th. In addition, the public can also enjoy various discounts by shopping at over 20 designated nearby shops, and by collecting enough stamps, they can exchange for exquisite small gifts. Those who wish to participate can pick up a guidebook at the entrance of Zhongxing Street Lane 122. The event is completely free.
