Pets can now travel in the cabin with you — ANA’s domestic flights launch heartwarming new service

I really want to take my pet abroad, but cats and dogs have to be checked as baggage. The common worry among pet owners is whether their furry friends can adapt or feel scared sitting alone in the cargo hold. Perhaps considering this,ANA’s domestic flights have specially introduced a service allowing pets to travel in the cabin — with their own dedicated seat — and they can even come out of their carrier to enjoy the flight with their owner.

For pet owners, pets are like family. In the past, aside from going through quarantine, pets had to be caged and checked as baggage into the cargo hold, which made owners feel reluctant and uneasy. Back in 2013, there was a case where a pet died after being checked as baggage on ANA. Perhaps taking into account the “dog rights” of these furry companions, ANA officially launched a new service on the 20th allowing pets to travel in the cabin. To commemorate the inaugural flight, ANA also specially created pet boarding passes so they can carry them in their mouths when boarding the plane.

In addition to ANA’s domestic flights in Japan, airlines such as Delta Air Lines in the U.S., KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and some European carriers also offer services that allow pets to travel in the cabin. Travelers who wish to fly with their pets should check the regulations of each airline in advance.
