During the four-day New Year holiday in 2013, Taiwan High Speed Rail will adjust its schedule from December 28 to January 2, 2013, increasing the total number of trains by 53 southbound and 49 northbound services, totaling 102 additional train trips. Over the six-day period, a total of 894 train services will be provided, offering 884,166 seats. Passengers can start purchasing pre-sale round-trip tickets for the peak travel period beginning December 1 through the 24-hour “THSR T Express” mobile app, THSR partner convenience stores, the online booking system, the voice reservation system, or at ticket windows and automatic ticket machines during operating hours at any THSR station.

The high-speed rail will continue to offer non-reserved seating during the New Year holiday travel period and early bird discounts will also apply. Among these, 604 train trips will be eligible for early bird discounts, accounting for 68% of all services during the peak period. Passengers who book tickets between 8 and 28 days before the departure date may enjoy early bird discounts of 65%, 80%, or 90%. Starting December 1, passengers can also pre-purchase round-trip tickets for the entire period from December 28 to January 2 in one go. Additionally, during the peak travel period, passengers holding periodic tickets, multi-ride tickets, or EasyCard co-branded cards can access non-reserved seating directly by tapping their cards at the station gates to board any train.
