From atop Shoushan, you can enjoy sweeping views of Kaohsiung’s mountains, seas, rivers, and harbor. Over the decades, couples have left behind sweet memories here. The Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau has built a lovers’ observation deck in front of the Shoushan National Revolutionary Martyrs' Shrine, infusing the once-private dating spot with romantic elements and providing visitors with a platform to gaze out over the city. To enhance the romantic ambiance, the observation deck features the “LOVE Megaphone” installation art, decorative panels inscribed with declarations of love in 32 languages, and stone sculptures of macaques symbolizing the three stages of love: pursuit, passionate romance, and lasting union.

Due to its elevated location on Shoushan, the lovers’ observation deck offers unobstructed views of the streets and harbor, often attracting many couples who come here to enjoy the night scenery. The Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau has positioned this site as a top choice for couple dates and wedding photo shoots. On-site, there is a “LOVE Megaphone” installation art piece, designed as an oversized interactive megaphone shaped with the word LOVE, conveying the romantic idea that love should be expressed boldly. Additionally, three macaque-shaped stone sculptures symbolize the different stages of love: pursuit, passionate romance, and lasting union. The observation deck also features decorative panels inscribed with declarations of love in 32 languages, representing love as a universal language that transcends borders. These elements are meant to encourage couples to express their feelings bravely, enjoy romantic moments together, and symbolize vows made amid the mountains and seas, love destined in Kaohsiung, and everlasting romance. In the future, whether locals or tourists, anyone visiting Qijin or Cijin can stop by the Shoushan Lovers’ Observation Deck to enjoy the unique scenery of Kaohsiung's day-to-night transitions and its magnificent mountains, seas, rivers, and harbor.
