Looking to ride the waves on a luxurious sea voyage, but want something beyond a cruise ship? The Alila hotel group launched the “Alila Purnama,” a luxury sailboat named after the full moon in mid-December 2012. Entirely handcrafted in the traditional Phinisi style used by Bugis sailors from South Sulawesi, Indonesia, the 46-meter vessel features three decks. It blends fashion with sustainability, with all furnishings handmade from teak, rattan, or locally sourced Indonesian materials. The boat has just five double cabins, each offering expansive ocean views. Onboard, there's a PADI-certified diving center and a private spa therapist, catering to both underwater adventurers and those looking to relax in style.

The Alila Purnama’s maiden voyage begins in Indonesia’s Raja Ampat archipelago, home to world-class national parks and countless hidden dive spots. Marine scientists believe that 70% of the world’s coral species originate here. The seven-day, six-night itinerary lets travelers fully explore the underwater world. The trip is available until March 2013, and from April to October, the boat sails to the Komodo archipelago, setting off on another fantastical maritime journey.
