The Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau’s recently launched “Warm Winter in Kaohsiung – Experience the Five Great Routes” tourism campaign offers a one-day trip for just NT$399, featuring “food and fun,” along with professional guided tours that take participants on an in-depth exploration of the city. The campaign has received an enthusiastic response, and now it’s adding an extra attraction: the “Fly to the ‘Moon’ World – Tianliao Adventure” tour. Online and telephone registration is now open, with trips scheduled from January 27 to March 10, departing every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This tour takes visitors to explore the lunar-like mud volcano badlands of Moon World. For just NT$399 per person, you can join this one-day trip and experience the warm winter sunshine of Kaohsiung.

This “Fly to the ‘Moon’ World – Tianliao Adventure” offers three different travel routes, taking participants to scenic spots such as the Tianliao Moon World Scenic Area, the Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum and Gushan Warehouse in the Dashu District, the Old Iron Bridge Wetlands, as well as the Life Culture Park and Old Street in Qishan District. These options provide a variety of leisure experiences. The one-day trip fee of NT$399 per person includes guided tours, transportation, a local free-range chicken lunch, DIY activities, travel insurance, and even locally produced agricultural souvenirs to take home.
The Tourism Bureau has created a hot air balloon-shaped flower sculpture and planted various colorful flowers and shrubs at the entrance of the mudstone landscape trail in the Moon World Scenic Area. With the vibrant imagery of these colorful balloon flower sculptures, visitors are welcomed into the Moon World Scenic Area. This forms a striking visual contrast against the barren, rugged badlands landscape in the background. Additionally, visitors can explore the unique mudstone formations through observation trails that blend natural landscapes and preserve native vegetation. Guo Mingzhe, a travel lifestyle blogger who participated in the event, noted that the Kaohsiung City Government’s lightweight development and promotion of distinctive landforms allow visitors to get up close to the natural mud volcano scenery through walking or cycling, adding a new level of enjoyment and experience to the trip.
