"Gifts in the Wind" delves into the emotional journey of life, touching on everyday aspects and originating from a focus on youth. It explores how young people can grow healthily and find their place in a competitive learning environment. Choreographer and director Huang Yuqian, while searching for filming locations, engaged in intensive discussions with the filming director. After multiple revisions and rebuilds, they ultimately chose the geographically rooted call of Guishan Island—the land itself—to bear the sweat and tears of Yilan’s students, sending the young out and welcoming the greying back, filled with both reluctance and pride. When the conch shell sounds, there’s no place like home.

The beach scenes for the short film had to align with the tides. The choreographer and dancers braved the scorching midday sun and unpredictable typhoon conditions, facing sudden heat and cold with drastic temperature shifts, immersing their bodies in seawater during filming without fear of hardship. After many days of searching, they finally found a traditional-style sanheyuan (courtyard house) in Linmei Village, Jiaoxi Township. The creation of this entire dance drama began with the search for, and carving of sounds from, a conch shell—marking the start of an artistic journey for a group of young creators, who aim to leave behind a richly woven chapter of their travels.
