To promote ceramic artistry and cultural arts, the Yingge Ceramics Museum is hosting the “2013 Preserved Spring Plums in Jars” crispy plum pickling event from March 20 to May 5 in the Ceramic Art Park. Each year, the Yingge Ceramics Museum invites different ceramic artists to design jars and incorporates spring produce—green plums—to integrate ceramic art into daily life in a fun and relaxing way, combining education with enjoyment.

The limited-edition “Spring-Treasure Jar” for 2013 was designed by renowned ceramic artist Cao Qiyai. Viewed from above, its five-petal plum blossom shape symbolizes resilience; from the side, its melon-like form represents abundance. Its jade-green glaze resembles green plums, making it pleasing to the eye. The plum harvest season is in spring—a time of renewal and hope—hence the name “Spring-Treasure.” These jars can be used to pickle plums, and once filled with crispy plums, they can also serve as storage containers or even stewing pots. The lids function as small vessels suitable for flower arrangements or planting, making them multi-functional, practical, and worth collecting. Moreover, this year’s plum jars have been specially enlarged to hold 2 Taiwanese catties, allowing pickling enthusiasts to enjoy even more sweet and crispy plums from a single experience.
