Airlines Launch New Membership Perks – World’s First “Flight Simulator” Experience

Both Singapore Airlines and China Eastern Airlines have announced new membership services today. KrisFlyer members of Singapore Airlines can redeem their accumulated miles for Premium Economy tickets, while China Eastern has newly launched a Platinum Card membership tier. Notably, China Eastern has also included a “flight simulator” experience in its membership benefits for the first time.

Singapore Airlines officially introduced its new Premium Economy class in August 2015, which is now available on approximately 20 routes. Starting May 24, 2016, KrisFlyer members can use their accumulated miles to redeem Premium Economy tickets. From June 1, 2016, members can also use their miles to upgrade from Economy to Premium Economy, or from Premium Economy to Business Class.

China Eastern Airlines has officially announced the launch of its Eastern Miles Platinum Card membership tier starting June 18. Platinum Card members enjoy unlimited complimentary upgrades for domestic point-to-point flights within mainland China, up to four complimentary upgrades per year for international and cross-strait direct routes, private car transfers, free excess baggage allowance, and additional mileage accumulation. They will also receive multiple priority services for ticket booking and itinerary arrangements. In addition, China Eastern offers exclusive value-added services for Platinum Card members, including medical check-ups at designated healthcare institutions, stays at top-tier hotels, and flight simulator driving experiences — the latter being the world’s first time such a benefit has been included in a top-tier airline membership program.
