The Viceroy Maldives, newly opened in 2012 by the Viceroy Hotel Group, boasts 61 Villas. Like the sturdy hull of a traditional Maldivian dhoni boat, it closely shelters this coral island. Thirty-two of the villas stand atop turquoise waters as vibrant as ice cream soda, while the other 29 are rooted on the beach, offering guests the pleasure of sinking their ankles into fine sand at any time.
Each Villa is its own little universe, spaced far apart to provide guests with the utmost privacy. The “Royal Villa” lives up to its name, covering a generous 406 square meters, while even the smallest “Beach Villa” and “Water Villa” span 103 square meters.
The furnishings inside the Villas are designed with extreme simplicity — light brown minimalist lines outline the most basic needs of the home. A comfortable king-size bed faces the ocean without obstruction, and each Villa also features a private deep-water swimming pool right at its front, making the sea feel just steps away.
