The Nantou Train Festival, running until August 11, not only offers free rides on national treasure-level steam trains, but this year’s popular conductors and hot air balloon activities are also super eye-catching. Last weekend’s duty was handled by a superstar idol among children—Bee Sister—who had kids going wild. This week’s popular conductor will be taken over by the champion of the Sweet Goddess Group—Sunny Tingting. In addition, the hot air balloon tethered ride experience, which was postponed last weekend due to bad weather, will be held on August 3. Those who won the lottery on July 26 can present their stubs to ride, and the organizers will provide additional rides based on weather conditions at the site.

The popular conductor election, held alongside the free steam train ride event, selected two popular conductors favored by different groups through online voting: Bee Sister, the little queen of children’s TV, and the internet-famous energetic Elephant Young Girl—Sunny Tingting. Bee Sister made her first appearance last Sunday, riding the DT668 steam train from Zhuoshui Station to Checheng Station in the afternoon. Along the way, she not only taught children about train safety but also worked as a ticket puncher, inspected random carriages, checked tickets, and interacted closely with the kids. This Sunday’s popular conductor will be Sunny Tingting, the champion of the Sweet Goddess Group, who will serve as the conductor for C and D shift steam trains with her great figure and dynamic dancing skills. Visitors who haven’t made reservations but want to catch a glimpse of their idol can try their luck by donating purchase receipts totaling at least NT$500 spent within Nantou County during the event period before the train departs, in exchange for a possible standby seat.
As for the weekly “Spend NT$1,000 to Win a Free Hot Air Balloon Tethered Ride” activity, last weekend’s event was postponed to this Saturday from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM due to bad weather. Those who won the lottery on July 26 can present their stubs to ride, while those who won this Friday will ride as originally scheduled at 2:00 PM on August 3 at Jiji Elementary School.
