Moomin Valley Theme Park Opens！Hottest Travel Spot in Japan This Spring 2019

No need to fly all the way to Finland for Moomin Valley—Japan’s got one！The first-ever Moomin theme park in Asia is located in Hannō, Saitama Prefecture, Japan, and is set to open on March 16, 2019. There's a brand-new destination to explore on your next trip to Japan, Up！

The village from the Moomin animations has been brought to life！Facilities in Japan’s Moomin Theme Park follow those in Finland’s, and inside the park you can even see the iconic blue house where Moomin lives—super realistic, as if you've truly entered the world of Moomin！

Moomin Theme Park is divided into four major zones, with the Moomin Valley area being the main section of the park. Moomin’s house is located here, not only faithfully recreating the look of the original building from the series, but also featuring meticulously designed interiors on each floor, making visitors feel as though they’ve stepped right into the animated world—truly dreamy！Within Moomin Valley, there’s also an outdoor theater called “Emma Theater” that offers exciting live performances, plus classic sights from the Moomin animations such as the lighthouse and a Moomin photo spot. There’s also a 360-degree surround projection theater available for an additional fee.

Other zones include “Poukama” near the entrance, which houses restaurants and souvenir shops; “Kokemus,” an exhibition area showcasing works by the creator of Moomin; and “Yshinaiset Vuoret,” a dedicated play area for kids. The Kokemus zone features not only permanent exhibits but also interactive displays, hands-on workshops, restaurants, and the largest shopping store in the park, “Mu Mirakuso Kauppa.” Themed around the Moomin forest, this store is super fun！

Ticket information for Japan’s Moomin Theme Park is as follows: adults (middle school students and above) 1,500 yen, children (ages 4 to elementary school) 1,000 yen, and free for children under 3. Some rides and facilities within the park require an additional fee. Tickets are sold on-site only on the opening day, March 16, while advance online reservations are required for other dates.
