The long-awaited southern Taiwan music event—the 2013 Tainan Masago Music Festival—is set to take place on August 16 and 17. Different from the energetic, hippie, and rock vibe of the Gongliao Ocean Music Festival and Kenting Spring Scream, the Tainan Masago Music Festival emphasizes local culture, environment, and atmosphere. Over the two-day event, artists and bands such as Jolin Tsai, Chang Chen-yue, Fish Leong, and Quarterback will take turns performing. This year, the festival has also invited Zhang Sisan, a key figure behind the "Gongliao Ocean Music Festival" and known as the godfather of Taiwan’s music festivals, to collaborate and create a summer music event tailored specifically for Tainan.

The inaugural Tainan Masago Music Festival last year received an enthusiastic response from music fans, and it returns this year on August 16 and 17, starting at 4:00 PM both days. This year’s event is carefully curated by Zhang Sisan, founder of the Ocean Music Festival. The two days are themed “Youth Folk” and “Passionate Rock,” respectively. Featured performers include electronic queen Jolin Tsai, who has won Golden Melody Awards, as the closing act, as well as rock king Chang Chen-yue, hard rock band Quarterback, and newcomers singer-songwriter Fish Leong and rising rock band Hush!. A total of 10 artist acts will deliver the most authentic oceanfront music festival experience of the summer.
This event breaks through the public’s impression of Tainan as just a simple historic ancient capital, using elements such as music, cultural ambiance, and ecology. Free entry begins at 12:00 noon during the event. Collaborating with travel agencies such as Shan Fu Travel, Canxing Travel, and Wu Fu Travel, the festival offers selected themed package tours. The public can also scan the exclusive QR code of the Tainan Masago Music Festival to access special promotions from local hotels and F&B vendors. Additionally, there will be nearly 40 food stalls at the onsite food market, featuring authentic Tainan delicacies, popular traditional snacks, and nostalgic local treats, giving attendees a full taste of Tainan’s culinary delights.
