The highly anticipated Yellow Rubber Duck, after its first stop in Kaohsiung from September 19 to October 20 and the second at Taoyuan’s “Taoyuan Land Art Festival” from October 26 to November 10, will now make its final stop in Keelung. The exhibition in Keelung has been confirmed to run for six weeks starting December 21 at Keelung Harbor.

This, the largest Yellow Rubber Duck in Asia, has garnered tremendous attention from duck fans since its announcement to visit Taiwan. The duck’s scheduled play locations include Kaohsiung’s Glory Pier, Taoyuan’s Xinwu Houhu Pond, and Keelung’s Keelung Harbor. The Kaohsiung event will kick off during the Mid-Autumn Festival, allowing travelers planning a harbor city trip over the holiday to catch a glimpse of the duck. Meanwhile, the Keelung event coincides with Christmas and New Year’s Eve, making Keelung Harbor a popular spot for Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The Yellow Rubber Duck exhibited in Taiwan stands 18 meters tall and weighs nearly 1,000 kilograms, significantly larger than the 16.5-meter version displayed in Hong Kong earlier. However, another Yellow Rubber Duck set to appear at the “2013 Beijing Design Week” on September 16 will also grow taller due to a change in location — its height is expected to exceed the one in Hong Kong, resulting in simultaneous rubber duck tourism booms on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
