The WALL Gongguan—The LIVE HOUSE Where You’re Closest to the Performers
Transformed from an abandoned underground mall, since 2003, THE WALL has injected new life into Gongguan, becoming a venue for independent bands and singer-songwriters to perform and connect, as well as a gathering spot for music fans. Its biggest difference from typical live band venues is its shopping street area, which includes merchandise from musicians and bands, as well as lounge areas for interaction. Additionally, the guitarist from the band Chthonic runs a practice room here, allowing music enthusiasts to hone their skills and pursue their passions. Bed Plus—A Hookah Lounge Serving Thai-Yunnan Cuisine
Newly and officially opened on June 1, 2012, Bed Plus is a branch of The Bed in Taipei’s East District. As the name “Plus” suggests, it’s more refined than the original, offers more diverse food and drinks, and has a larger space. It mainly targets young customers aged around 18–40 and is a popular spot for ABCs (American-born Chinese) looking to try something new. The décor follows a Middle Eastern theme, serving Thai-Yunnan cuisine along with various summer fruit cocktails. On regular days, Brown Sugar features Latin music and band singers, performing from 9:30 PM to 12:30 AM. On Tuesdays, Mandarin singers perform from 10:00 PM to 12:00 AM. On Fridays and Saturdays, foreign singers take the stage with a mix of jazz, blues, and pop, performing until 1:00 AM. Making weekend nightlife even more vibrant.
