On March 7th and 8th , under the influence of a strong continental cold air mass and the eastward shift of the cloud - rain zone in southern China , the central and northern parts of Taiwan , northeastern Taiwan , and eastern Taiwan experienced wet and cold weather , while other regions were cooler in the morning and evening . The central and northern parts of Taiwan and northeastern Taiwan had showers , with a chance of localized heavy rain , and other areas also saw brief showers .
On the 9th , the strong continental cold air mass weakened slightly , and temperatures rose somewhat . During the weekend of March 9th and 10th , as a frontal system gradually passed , the central and northern parts of Taiwan , northeastern Taiwan , and eastern Taiwan had showers or thunderstorms , with a chance of localized heavy rain , and other areas still experienced brief showers .
Next Monday and Tuesday ( March 11th and 12th ) , as the northeastern monsoon strengthens or a continental cold air mass moves southward , the northern and northeastern parts of Taiwan will turn cooler again , with localized brief rain in the eastern half of Taiwan and mountainous areas in the north , while other areas will be mostly cloudy after brief rain .
