A major Asia-Pacific regional forum, the "Asia-Pacific Cities Summit," begins today. The "Night of Kaohsiung" event at 7:00 PM on September 10th at Glory Pier welcomes over 1,000 dignitaries from more than 100 countries around the world. Kaohsiung’s global ambassador and Asian supergroup Mayday will also put on an energetic performance. The concert-style event is free of charge—no tickets required, no reservations needed, and open to all. The public is welcome to join in the fun.

Taiwan’s largest international event this year, the "2013 Kaohsiung Asia-Pacific Cities Summit," runs from today through the 11th, gathering about 1,000 dignitaries from 102 cities worldwide. The welcome gala on the evening of the 10th at 7:00 PM at Glory Pier is produced to concert standards. Performers include Ding Dang, Yenjui, MP Magic Power, and Mayday, alongside local Kaohsiung cultural performances such as the World Games Three Princes performance troupe and the Shihmen Campus of Shih Chien University’s Songjiang Battle Array. The event invites all Asia-Pacific Cities Summit guests and the public to celebrate together at Glory Pier—creating a joyful, romantic, lyrical, and rock-filled Night of Kaohsiung.
Among the performers at the evening gala, Ding Dang—who sang the theme song for the 2011 Kaohsiung Lantern Festival and has won multiple music awards across the Chinese-speaking world—will perform moving songs such as “I Am Just a Little Bird” and “The Palm of Your Hand.” Yenjui, a 100% original musician born and raised in Kaohsiung who just finished shooting a music video in the city, will sing love ballads including “In Pursuit” and “Temporary Boyfriend.” The electronic rock band MP Magic Power, who once invited “Flower Mom” (former Kaohsiung mayor Chen Chu) to appear in their “Sagittarius Dance” music video, will perform fan favorites like “Criminal of Sensation” and “Who Am I,” bringing a fresh experience to summit attendees. The evening will close with Mayday, the multi-time Golden Melody Award-winning Asian rock legends and global ambassadors of Kaohsiung, who have set records with concerts in Beijing's Bird’s Nest (3 shows, 300,000 attendees total) and the World Games Main Stadium (4 shows, 200,000 attendees total). They will bring down the house with hits such as “OAOA,” “Leaving Earth’s Surface,” “I Don’t Want to Let You Be Alone,” “Three Idiots,” “Cheers,” and “Sad People Shouldn’t Listen to Slow Songs.”
To ensure the smooth running of the “2013 Asia-Pacific Cities Summit – Night of Kaohsiung,” the seaside road (from Wufu Road to Youth Second Road) in both directions and the West Harbor Line bicycle path (from the starting point at True Love Pier section to Youth Second Road) will be closed to all vehicles from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM on the 10th. The entrance to True Love Pier along Park Road will also be closed to all vehicles from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Additionally, roadside motorcycle parking spaces on the west side of Seaside Road (from Youth Road to Ling’an Road) will be open for temporary motorcycle parking from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM. For public transportation, visitors can take the MRT to City Council Station and walk to the venue, or take the MRT to Sanduo Shopping District Station and transfer to R18 bus to Glory Pier Station. Alternatively, you can take Bus No. 168 Circle, 0 South, 0 North, 11, 25, 33, 50 (Wufu Trunk Line), 76, 77, or 214 to Kaohsiung Girls’ High School or Hanshin Department Store, then walk to the venue.
