Department store and supermarket city’super has introduced Japanese Kumamoto mascot Kumamon’s merchandise, available in limited quantities for a limited time from now until the 22nd. To boost sales, Kumamon himself came to Taipei to meet fans, receiving a warm welcome from the public and fans, while also promoting Kumamoto tourism at the same time!

The merchandise introduced this time includes over 70 items such as food and sundries, ranging from Kumamoto’s famous local specialties like nori, ramen, candies, cookies, and tea leaves, to a rich variety of goods featuring the Kumamon design such as drawstring bags, wallets, tote bags, notepads, and baseball caps for the public to choose from!

Kumamoto Prefecture’s mascot “Kumamon” not only won first place in Japan’s mascot popularity poll, but has also seen a surge in popularity in recent years. Its cute appearance has won the hearts of many Taiwanese people, whether or not they have visited Kyushu. With this Kumamon merchandise exhibition and promotional tour in Taiwan, multiple close-contact fan meet-and-greet events were all packed, drawing enthusiastic photo-taking from the crowd, successfully attracting even more attention. It’s clear how beloved Kumamon—affectionately nicknamed “the Minister” (Kumamoto’s promotional minister)—is among tourists!
