Spring in Japan sees cherry blossoms in full bloom, with hanami events thriving like never before. To celebrate the cherry blossom season, The Peninsula Tokyo will be decked out in stunning new finery. From March 23 to April 6, hundreds of three-meter-tall cherry blossom trees will transform the hotel lobby into the city’s first hanami destination, allowing cherry blossom enthusiasts to kick off their flower-viewing experience early.

The colorful classic Peninsula cherry blossom afternoon tea is one of the hotel’s most popular offerings. Tempting seasonal savory bites and cherry blossom-themed sweets displayed on silver tree-shaped stands are simply mouthwatering. Available from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM daily at the lobby lounge from March 15 to April 30, priced at 5,400 yen per person and includes a glass of Deutz Cherry Rose Champagne. Homemade cherry blossom muffins incorporate slightly salty cherry blossom petals, adding a subtle twist to the flavor. Guests can choose from the hotel’s selection of 20 premium teas to pair with their afternoon tea, all while leisurely admiring the enchanting blossoms and enjoying live music performances.
The Peninsula Boutique and Café will offer hanami bento sets (9,500 yen per set for two), including cold cuts, vibrant salads with red wine dressing, delicate sandwiches, fresh fruit, and a half bottle of Peninsula Champagne—making it the perfect choice for a picnic at iconic hanami spots such as Hibiya Park, Chidorigafuchi Green Way, the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, Ueno Park, and Shinjuku Gyoen. Hanami bento sets are available on regular weekdays from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM from March 15 to April 14, with reservations required at least three days in advance.
Peter Restaurant, known for its barbecue cuisine, will launch a unique cherry blossom bento, available from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM from March 15 to April 13 (excluding Sundays), priced at 5,500 yen each.
This vibrant bento box is packed with an array of mouthwatering delights, including rye sandwiches with smoked salmon and ikura paired with white asparagus and tomatoes, Peter Restaurant’s signature crab cakes, and mini Peter burgers, along with a glass of rosé sparkling wine. Dessert options are equally irresistible, featuring strawberry tarts, cherry blossom strawberry Lamington cakes, chocolate cake, and fresh fruit.
