Entering its third year, New Taipei City’s Joyful Christmas Town is set to officially begin tomorrow (the 22nd) following the lighting ceremony. The carousel and spinning teacups in Civic Square will also start entertaining children, while the towering 35.5-meter main Christmas tree light installation in New Taipei City’s Civic Square will use LED tube combinations to display vivid computer animations and graphics. Coupled with a new pairing of a Christmas bear and Santa Claus, it adds fun and storytelling elements.

This year’s main Christmas tree light installation is the tallest LED Christmas tree in the country, built with 3,300 LED tubes, each one meter long. Each light point can emit 256 colors × 256 colors, totaling over 60,000 colors, paired with lively computer animations as well as a Christmas bear and Santa Claus, showcasing a style unlike previous years.

Of course, this large-scale amusement park that is Joyful Christmas Town wouldn’t be complete without rides. In addition to the carousel and spinning teacups that will accompany children throughout the event period from November 22 to January 5 next year, the Civic Square will additionally offer the Doodoo Forest Train and cute spinning mini airplanes on November 22, 23, and 24. From December 14 to January 1 next year, the “Rascals’ Winter Fun Park” at Wanping Park and the Station Front Square will feature a variety of rides including inflatable castles and track trains.

The New Taipei City Government Tourism Bureau stated that this year’s light area has expanded once again. The entire light zone uses a total of 2.4 million bulbs, with the total length of lighting fixtures reaching approximately 300,000 meters — equivalent to 618 Taipei 101 towers (not including the antenna portion) — transforming Christmas Town into a dazzling sea of lights, perfect for families to stroll through together.
