The “Run For Your Lives – Zombie Obstacle Run,” which originated and gained popularity in the United States, has drawn huge crowds and created a major buzz after taking off in North America. Now, the “virus” has spread to Asia, and Taiwan has officially received official authorization from the Singapore headquarters. In 2014, Taiwan will be designated as an infected zone, with the first run scheduled to kick off on March 29, 2014, at Taipei’s Mǎchǎngtīng Memorial Park. Combining the currently hottest zombie theme with a 5K run, the event will feature obstacle challenges, immersing participants in a zombie-infested danger zone where they must fight their way through and run for their lives.

“Run For Your Lives – Run for Survival” is the first alternative obstacle run themed around a zombie infection. Since its debut in Maryland, USA, in 2011, it has turned over 30 locations across the United States into infected zones. Participants can choose to be either runners or zombies. For runners, survival is just the beginning — before reaching the finish line, they must do their utmost to escape the brainless but physically powerful zombies. Along the way, they also have to overcome natural obstacles such as terrifying blood pools, muddy sludge, smoke-filled haunted houses, and eerie mazes. It’s not just about speed; strategy is key to escaping unscathed and claiming victory.
All participants wear a belt with flags attached, symbolizing the fragile life of humans. Throughout the grueling 5-kilometer course, bloodthirsty zombies will try to snatch these flags. If runners reach the finish line still holding their flags, it means they remain uninfected and have successfully escaped, earning them a “Survived” medal. Otherwise, they receive an “Infected” medal, officially becoming a zombie. After the event, both runners and zombies can join the Apocalypse Party to enjoy music, beer, food, games, and more, celebrating the joy of surviving the end of the world.

“Run For Your Lives” has not only caused a widespread infection and sensation across the United States but has gradually expanded to Asian countries such as Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia. With official authorization from the Singapore headquarters, the authentic “Run For Your Lives” Zombie 5K Obstacle Run is set to sweep through Taiwan. With a heavily invested, trap-filled zombie course and an Apocalypse Party, the event invites Taiwanese netizens to experience a real zombie apocalypse. The run will take place on March 29, 2014, in Taipei, and May 17, 2014, in Kaohsiung. The Taipei event will be held at Mǎchǎngtīng Memorial Park, while the location for the Kaohsiung event will be announced by the organizers.
