Taipei Fine Arts Museum will mark its 30th anniversary at the end of December. Looking back on a full year of buildup — through collections, restorations, exhibitions, research, and a variety of educational programs rolled out over time — the museum is poised to achieve significant outcomes this month. Furthermore, as it steps into a new phase following its 30th year, TFAM has announced special anniversary events to be held on the eve of this milestone. On the day of celebration, entry to all exhibitions will be free, and limited-edition coffee and coffee-themed art cup sleeves will also be given away.

Since its opening in December 1983, Taipei Fine Arts Museum will celebrate its 30th anniversary on December 22. To thank art and culture enthusiasts who have supported the museum through its various phases over the past three decades, a grand anniversary event titled “30 With You. 30 Standing Tall” will be held in the museum lobby starting at 2:00 PM that afternoon. The event invites all visitors who have left their mark on TFAM’s 30-year journey to join in the birthday celebration.

On the day, admission to the entire museum will be free. Starting at 2:00 PM in the lobby, after a collective rendition of the Happy Birthday song, a short film titled “TFAM COLORS” will be screened. The concept of the video draws from the “16,847,987+ Museum Looking for You” vintage photo search campaign and the colorful sticky note message activity. Aside from expressing gratitude to participants of these two initiatives, the film also showcases TFAM’s vibrant art dissemination and sharing over the past 30 years. From 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, the Taipei Symphony Orchestra’s affiliated ensemble will perform a medley spanning three decades. Meanwhile, at the outdoor plaza, CITY CAFÉ will offer complimentary aromatic hot coffee, each cup accompanied by a limited-edition coffee art sleeve designed with artwork from TFAM’s collection. Supplies are limited and will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.

On the day of the anniversary, December 22, the exhibitions on display will include “Sounding Force – Sound and Image Installation Exhibition,” “Inclined Connection – Experimental Plan for Collection Exhibition,” “Years/Liao Tang: 1959–2013 Photo Exhibition,” and “2013 Taipei Arts Award.” In addition to exhibitions and programmed events, special publications and art merchandise will also be launched. TFAM’s two 30th-anniversary publication sets — Chronology 0?Π?Pump Lán Qíng and Thirty Years of Collection Reflections — provide insights into the museum’s rich history from multiple perspectives, including societal and art collection contexts. “Youth Volume: TFAM’s 30-Year Highlights” focuses on key historical moments of the past 30 years and its close ties with the development of contemporary Taiwanese art. “30th Anniversary Collection Catalog Overview” not only features a complete collection of over 4,500 treasured artworks from TFAM but also includes insights from former museum directors on the evolution of the museum’s collection policies.

Among the art derivatives is the “30th Anniversary Commemorative Collector’s Ticket Set” (third edition), which, like the previous two editions, features designs based on TFAM and its collection works, offering a limited-edition ticket set with both practical and collectible value. The “Complete 12: Zheng Shanxi’s Zodiac New Year Print Gift Box” is a limited-edition release, featuring 12 zodiac woodblock prints created by Zheng Shanxi, winner of the National Award for Arts, between 2002 and 2013.
