Taiwan’s first “Light Up Taichung – A Century of Brilliance 3D Light Show” remains hugely popular. From mid-November until the end of the year, it is shown every Saturday at 19:00, 20:00, and 21:00, featuring a 16-minute classic light show broadcast on the hour at Taichung Prefectural Hall. To celebrate the upcoming holidays, starting December 14, a “Christmas & New Year Edition” of the light show will be screened. Unlike the “Classic Edition,” the story concludes in winter—under a blanket of snow, starlight descends and transforms into sparkling Christmas tree ornaments. Santa Claus flies his sleigh over the city, showering Taichung Prefectural Hall with a flurry of gifts. Icicle-dusted musical notes dance joyfully to the music, while golden ribbons twist into a two-story-high Christmas tree. The walls of the Prefectural Hall are adorned with colorful lights as they join the public in celebrating Christmas and welcoming 2014.

The current 16-minute “A Century of Brilliance 3D Light Show” being screened at Taichung Prefectural Hall has received widespread acclaim. Now, every Saturday evening, crowds begin to gather in the square in front of the hall—some with friends, some with family, either sitting on the ground or finding their favorite viewing spot. They wait in a relaxed atmosphere filled with live music and the projection of light segments. Each additional screening is packed to capacity with an enthusiastic audience. Positive reviews of the show continue to spread online, and word-of-mouth has only boosted attendance. Taichung Prefectural Hall has become a new highlight of the city’s nighttime cultural scene.

The extended Christmas version of “A Century of Brilliance 3D Light Show” will be screened every Saturday evening starting December 14, as well as on New Year’s Eve, December 31, at Taichung Prefectural Hall. There will be a total of four additional screenings, each at 19:00, 20:00, and 21:00. Fans of cultural events shouldn’t miss it.
