In addition, the flower fields in Taichung are also in full bloom, offering a romantic way to spend the weekend, while you can also search for teddy bear footprints around downtown Taichung and Sun Moon Lake. For those in southern Taiwan, besides the Sculpture Biennale at Pier-2 Art Center, there’s also a New Year Goods Street event at the outdoor Times Square of Dream Mall, where renowned restaurant chefs will share cooking tips for festive dishes. The Keelung Yellow Duck exhibition has been running for nearly a month. Recently, the organizers received a letter from Florentijn Hofman, hoping to receive 10 high-definition photos of the Keelung Yellow Duck to be displayed on his official website and social media. Currently, the organizers have also launched a photo submission campaign from now until January 20. Netizens who want their photography works to go international can take advantage of the weekend holiday to visit Keelung, take photos of the duck, and submit them.

With only two weeks left until Lunar New Year, the Taipei-themed pavilion at the World Trade Center New Year Goods Exhibition not only sells delivery-style New Year dishes and meal vouchers on-site, but also invites a chef from South Africa at 14:00 on January 18 to demonstrate an abalone cooking show, using abalone to create exotic-flavored dishes. At 14:30 on January 19, a famous veteran’s dish chef, Wang Rongrong, will teach everyone how to cook. At 15:00, the 50-year-old queue-famous store “Yi Chang Yu Fang” from Nanmen Market and food critic Li Meixian will provide hands-on lessons on reheating frozen New Year dishes. In addition, the Miaoli Cultural and Creative Hall exhibition is designed around the theme of traditional old houses, creating an atmosphere of bringing good gifts home for the New Year. The site not only features a cultural and creative gift window, offering people New Year-themed gift options, but also includes daily merchant promotions, Miaoli street performer shows, prize quizzes, and lucky draws during the event period.

The baby giant panda “Roundy” at Taipei City Zoo has officially started “work,” and the Taipei City Government has also launched a painted MRT Wenhu Line train — the “Roundy Train.” Both the inside and outside of the Roundy Train feature illustrations of Roundy and the zoo, and the train seats even have 3D sticker decals for interactive photo opportunities.

Taiwan’s first music-synchronized Bitan Suspension Bridge light show is approaching the Lunar New Year. Starting today (17th) until February 14, the Bitan Suspension Bridge light show will perform festive songs to match the celebratory mood. Families are welcome to visit Bitan together during the Lunar New Year and enjoy the joyful bridge light show performed every hour from 18:00 to 21:00 each evening.

The main event of the Gongliao Nine-Hole Abalone Festival in New Taipei City will kick off with a bang on January 19 next to the Aodi Fishing Port in Gongliao District. There will be “Abalone Happiness Lucky Bags” available for early birds, originally priced over NT$1,200, now available for just NT$999, limited supply — so come early to grab a bargain. In addition to the famous Gongliao abalone, there will also be free limited tastings of freshly grilled nine-hole clams, barbecued mackerel, hundred-dollar seafood flash sales, extra abalone perks, and more. At 10:00 a.m., you can also register for free at the event service desk to join the “Fishing Village Stroll.” A total of 120 lucky participants will explore fishing villages with professional guides, visiting local homes and discovering more antique fishing village artifacts, reliving the childhood fun of fishing villages 50 years ago.
