The “2014 New Taipei Cherry Blossom Season – A Cherry Blossom Mini-Trip” kicks off at the previously unopened cherry blossom hidden gem, the “Shiding Xiaogetao Nursery.” From now until March 31, famous cherry blossom viewing spots and hidden gems across various districts including Shiding Xiaogetao Nursery, Tamsui Tianyuan Temple, and Wulai Scenic Area will successively bloom with beautiful cherry blossoms. This year’s event also introduces themed cherry blossom itineraries, such as urban cherry blossom tours, religious pilgrimage cherry blossom experiences, and family-friendly outings, including: Zhonghe Tai-Mao No. 1 Village, Tucheng River of Hope, Xizhi Qingxiu Temple, Shiding Wuji Tianming Temple, Ruifang Gold Museum, and Jinshan Zhongshan Hot Spring Park... etc., and hosts photography competitions, Cherry Blossom Princess elections, Valentine’s Day events, hiking, expert-guided talks, and cherry blossom craft activities, enabling the public to enjoy their own “Cherry Blossom Mini-Trip” at the start of 2014.

“Cherry Red Dawn,” between January and March each year, 150,000 cherry trees across New Taipei City’s 29 districts bloom in succession; first, the peach-colored petals of the city tree, the Taiwan Mountain Cherry, dance vibrantly in January and February, followed by the multi-petaled “Yaezakura” blooming brilliantly, and then the delicate pink “Yoshino Cherry” adorning the early spring scenery of March. New Taipei City during the Lunar New Year can be called a true “Romantic Cherry Blossom City.” The Xiaogetao Nursery in Shiding District, opening for the first time this year, will be open to the public from now until January 26, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with the last admission time at15:30.
Mayor Eric Chu stated that New Taipei City has over 150,000 cherry trees, which romantically bloom from January to March each year, making New Taipei City a “Romantic Cherry Blossom City”! Since integrating cherry blossom viewing spots across districts in 2012, the New Taipei Cherry Blossom Season has attracted millions of visitors every year; in 2013, the “Flower Viewing Express” became a guide for flower enthusiasts; this year’s “2014 New Taipei Cherry Blossom Season - Cherry Blossom Mini-Trip,” to make it more convenient for more people to enjoy the cherry blossoms, also introduces themed cherry blossom itineraries, allowing the public to choose the cherry blossom viewing method that suits them best, experiencing the beauty of cherry blossoms planted all over New Taipei, complemented by the event website’s weekly “Real-Time Flower Conditions” and the “Flower Viewing Express” for real-time sharing, ensuring cherry blossom lovers can always stay updated on blossom conditions, so enjoying cherry blossoms no longer relies on luck.
