This year’s Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, themed “Water,” will run from February 28 to March 16, presenting over 200 diverse and spectacular events tailored for global foodies, while celebrating the origin of all things—the gift of water. Creative water-inspired architecture along the Yarra River, an endless array of exquisite cuisine and fine wine, ultimate masterclasses led by global culinary and wine elite, mouthwatering aromas wafting through hidden alleys, and a flood of festive activities will gradually build this feast for the senses to a thrilling climax.

The festival’s main venue—Queensbridge Square by the Yarra River—will feature an exclusively designed, immersive three-tiered space during the event. Top chefs will utilize various water-based cooking techniques to present globally inspired fusion flavors through the concept of Chinese dim sum and exquisite culinary skills. On the Yarra River, floating bars gently sway with the waves, exuding the aroma of wine, as Melbourne’s up-and-coming mixologists create special Food & Wine Festival cocktails inspired by the three states of water. The Rain Garden will share knowledge on water collection, filtration, and recycling in an eco-friendly showcase of green festival elements. Meanwhile, a cloud-shaped canopy “suspended” above a disused railway bridge parallel to Sandridge Bridge, adorned with drought-resistant plants beneath, decorates the third level. The foliage-covered sky-like structure enhances the dimensionality of the entire immersive space.

The most highly anticipated highlight of the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival over the years, the 2014 “World’s Longest Lunch,” will be held at Alexandra Park by the Yarra River. The event will feature top-notch chefs from Melbourne’s food scene, including Jacques Reymond—who has earned the prestigious three chef’s hats in the Good Food Guide—and culinary innovator Adam D'Sylva, as well as cross-disciplinary food writer and Italian cuisine master Stefano de Pieri. Together, they will present a perfectly paired gourmet banquet for a thousand guests. The event runs from February 28 to March 2, with a single ticket priced at 155 Australian dollars (approximately 4,300 New Taiwan Dollars).

Additionally, this year’s Langham Melbourne MasterClass will host masters such as Rodolfo Guzmán, an innovator dedicated to revitalizing Chilean cuisine; Ángel León, the “Best Chef of Spain” renowned for his seafood dishes; and Christopher Kostow, the most creative Michelin three-star chef in the United States. These chefs will share the secrets and joys of cooking with food enthusiasts. The event takes place on March 8–9 at The Langham Melbourne, with a ticket price of 320 Australian dollars (approximately 8,800 New Taiwan Dollars).
