Counting down to the end of the Yangmingshan Flower Festival – Catch the cherry blossom snow next year

The annual Yangmingshan Flower Festival is set to conclude on March 9. This year, the six major festival sites have welcomed over one million visitors in total, with Yangmingshan Park alone attracting 860,000 visitors. This year’s Yangmingshan Flower Festival united six major attractions — Yangmingshan National Park, the Flower Research and Development Center, the Former Residence of Lin Yutang, Shuangxi Park, the Shilin Official Residence, and Zhongshan Hall — to celebrate the season. In addition to the vibrant display of over 3,000 cherry blossom trees in various colors across the Yangmingshan area, the event also featured art exhibitions such as wood carvings by artist Wu Xuansan and blue-and-white porcelain works by Chiashang Fengzhu.

This year’s Yangmingshan Flower Festival finale features Yoshino cherry blossoms, narcissus flowers, and azaleas. Aside from the area near the Yangmingshan Park Visitor Center, Yoshino cherry blossoms can also be admired at the Flower Research and Development Center near the Shanzihou Police Station bus stop at Yangming University, along the Hutianli Industrial Road, Quanyuanli Hiking Trail, and the Dongf Road corridor. According to real-time blossom viewing information from the Taipei New Blossom website, as of now, 85% of the Yoshino cherry blossoms at the Flower Research and Development Center have bloomed, with some already sprouting leaves, while the rest are mostly in leafing stages. Visitors who haven’t yet had the chance to enjoy these beautiful blossoms this year should make the most of the final days.
