Hailing from Taichung, Huang Yuxiang is Taiwan’s first blind pianist to major in piano. In 2011, he ventured into film acting and won the 2012 Golden Horse Award for Outstanding Taiwanese Filmmaker of the Year, as well as the Best Actor award at the 2013 Milan Film Festival. The film "Touch of the Light" took him around the world. On the evening of March 29 at 19:30, the "Huang Yuxiang Color Fantasy Piano Concert" at Taichung Zhongshan Hall will be his only solo piano concert held back home this year. Everyone is invited to enjoy how Yuxiang paints the world’s sky with his piano.

Born with congenital retinal disease that left him completely blind, Huang Yuxiang has an extraordinary memory—he can play melodies he’s only heard once. His passion and dedication to music have earned him numerous accolades, including double championships in solo and ensemble categories from the “Steinbach Music Art Association,” the solo championship at the “Shtuder Piano Competition,” and even the Presidential Education Award. In 2012, he starred in his first leading role in a semi-autobiographical film adapted from his own life story.<逆光飞翔>He successfully won the 2012 Golden Horse Award for Outstanding Taiwanese Filmmaker of the Year, as well as the Best Actor award at the 2013 Milan Film Festival.
A graduate of National Taichung Special Education School for the Visually Impaired and National Taiwan University of Arts Department of Music, Huang Yuxiang is the first fully blind music bachelor in Taiwan to major in piano. Having crossed over into classical, pop, and jazz music, Yuxiang once said, “Sound allows me to feel the colors of the world.” Although his world is always dark, his music allows people to see a magnificent rainbow. Therefore, the program design of the "Huang Yuxiang Color Fantasy Piano Concert" is themed around color, divided into four segments: Yellow Splendor, Blue Fantasy, Black Shine, and Red Passion, covering styles from classical, jazz to pop. The repertoire includes Gershwin’s "Rhapsody in Blue," the "Jazz Classics Trilogy" (adapted pieces), songs from the films "Touch of the Light" and "It’s Getting Dark," along with original compositions such as "Golden Dream" and "Cherry Blossom Dream." Additionally, it’s revealed that musical friends including his father and the leader singer of the Banquet Band, Masaki Baba, as well as Golden Melody Awards-winning artist Show Lo, will join the performance. This aims to enhance the richness of the concert and hopes audiences can experience the world’s sky painted by Yuxiang’s piano.
