This year, the Alishan National Scenic Area Administration has introduced the “Dancing with Fireflies” and “Trail Trails” programs, organizing four sessions of the “Spring & Summer Firefly Stroll” on April 19, 26, 29, and May 13, as well as four sessions of the “Trail Trails Firefly Stroll” on April 27, 29, May 13, and June 7. The events will be held at popular firefly gathering spots such as Guanghua Dumbazi Recreation Area, Yuantan Nature Ecological Park, Fengshan, and Ruili, as well as renowned trails including the Youth Ridge Trail, Wild Ginger Flower Stream Trail, Fengshan Observation Deck, and Yawumas Trail.

The Alishan National Scenic Area Administration stated that this year, in collaboration with the Alishan Forest Railway and local homestay operators, two two-day, one-night package tours have been arranged for April 29 and May 13. These packages allow participants to experience a series of firefly-themed activities, including riding the Alishan Forest Railway, firefly viewing, and trail hiking. Each session of the Alishan Forest Railway train can accommodate 160 people. Online registration is open, with each package costing NT$1,999. The fee includes round-trip train tickets from Chiayi to Jiaoliping on the Alishan Forest Railway, homestay accommodation, and meals for lunch and dinner on the first day and breakfast and lunch on the second day. Free shuttle service from Jiaoliping Railway Station to the homestay accommodations in the Ruili area is provided by the homestay operators. Train seats and homestay rooms are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Administration noted that the first 100 registrants for each session of the “Dancing with Fireflies and Trail Trails” series will receive a special commemorative gift. In addition to the spring and summer firefly viewing events, the Administration has achieved success in breeding autumn and winter fireflies in recent years and plans to hold three autumn and winter firefly experience camps during October and November this year.
