【Friday Fun in Taiwan】Taipei Blooms with Calla Lilies, Tainan’s Kapok Avenue is Super Romantic

The annual spring highlight of Yangmingshan National Park—the Zhuzihhu Calla Lily Festival—is taking place at Zhuzihhu from now until April 27. This year, in addition to the five recommended riverside trails in Zhuzihhu by the Taipei City Government’s Public Works Department, Earth Engineering Office, which allow calla lily enthusiasts to stroll among the blossoms and enjoy the forest’s phytoncides while leisurely wandering through the white sea of calla lilies, the Yangmingshan National Park Headquarters has also planned an “Ecological Tour of Zhuzihhu” route. Led by professional guides, visitors can explore the local cultural traditions and ecological industries of Zhuzihhu, experiencing the area’s unique natural and cultural features and scenery.

Taipei Zoo and Japan’s Tama Zoological Park signed a sister zoo agreement back in November 1994, aiming to integrate cross-border resources to jointly work on wildlife conservation. As the introduction of endangered species is extremely difficult, after much effort, the famous red panda star “A-Chang” from Tama Zoo finally arrived in Taiwan this January. After successfully completing its quarantine period, it has now officially made its debut in the Temperate Zone Animal Area.

Maokong boasts rolling mountain vistas and the leisurely charm of terraced tea fields, making it one of Taipei’s most famous tea-growing regions. This year, the newly completed “Little Skywalk” attraction offers a 360-degree wide-angle view, allowing you to overlook and admire Maokong’s beautiful valleys from high above. It also coincides with the nationwide blooming of the unique lobelia sea, swaying gracefully across the hillsides, complemented by the fresh green leaves of the bald cypress, creating a lush, verdant scene.

The kapok avenue in Baihe Linchupi, Tainan, is in full bloom, attracting many visitors to experience its romantic atmosphere. Nearby attractions can also be explored, including the Little South Sea Scenic Area, Jingliao Riceless Joy Community, Guanziling Hot Spring Area, and Dongshan Coffee Leisure Zone, offering a full taste of Tainan’s countryside and its relaxed, leisurely vibe.

 

With the kapok trees in Linchupi currently in full bloom, visitors can not only take photos under the kapok avenue but also head to the Little South Sea Scenic Area to enjoy its uniquely serene beauty, or visit Dongshan District for a taste of rich coffee. They can also go to Guanziling to experience the charm of Taiwan’s only mud hot springs, or explore the rustic ambiance of Jingliao Old Street in the Riceless Joy Community in Houbi, indulging in a deep rural tour of the Baihe, Houbi, and Dongshan areas.
