Every year from April to May, Baxianshan enters the season when tung blossoms bloom and dance in the wind. Flakes of "white snow" begin to fall from the tung trees, carpeting the trails in white and heralding the arrival of the firefly breeding and mating season. As night falls, the "stars" in the grass slowly rise, and their flickering lights and graceful dances are a delight to the senses. The Baxianshan Nature Education Center will hold four sessions of the "Tung Blossom & Firefly Season" event on April 26–27 and May 3–4, allowing the public to experience Baxianshan adorned with snow-like tung blossoms and glowing fireflies.

Lee Yenshou, Director of the Dongshi Forest District Office, stated that Baxianshan is one of the top firefly-viewing spots in central Taiwan. In addition to the common "black-winged firefly," the area is also home to many other species, such as the "red-chested black-winged firefly" and "small red-chested black-winged firefly" with their glowing red neon lights, as well as the petite and adorable "Sauter’s lacewing firefly." Visitors may even spot the protected "yellow-chested black-winged firefly" dancing gracefully within the park.
This "Tung Blossom & Firefly Season" event includes guided forest bathing trail tours, firefly ecology lectures, and outdoor firefly viewing in Baxianshan. Each session is limited to 50 participants, with a fee of NT$250 per person, covering admission, activity materials, and course fees.
