The red leaf variety in Jing Shan Community is commonly known as the "Red Leaf Japanese Maple," where local growers have grafted branches of Japanese maples onto the trunks of Taiwan-native green maples. These maple leaves feature five to seven deep lobes and turn crimson twice a year—in April and December—with the April period lasting the longest. The newly grown leaves of the Japanese maple are red, then gradually turn yellow and green, which is the opposite of the usual color transformation seen in green maples.
Huang Liyuan, head of the Bureau of Urban Development, pointed out that located at Lane 131, Jing Shan Road and the end of Yonggang Road in Shilin District, the Jing Shan Community is not only home to a well-known spot popular for DIY weddings, but also houses numerous nurseries that supply the planting needs of the Taipei area. In recent years, the Bureau has invested in an agricultural environment improvement plan for Jing Shan Community, adding walking trails and water-friendly recreational facilities, completing the “Cherry Blossom Viewing Platform” and the “Camphor Tree Platform,” providing the public with rest areas to enjoy and experience nature.

He Shengnan, the ward chief of Jing Shan, said that the Jing Shan Community also features many leisure farms and landscape restaurants, including the famous maple-viewing nursery café “Taipei Aowanda,” whose planted varieties differ from those of green maples. Its current red leaf scenery attracts large numbers of tourists for photo opportunities. Especially after the surrounding environment was improved by the Bureau, the overall landscape of the community has become more harmonious, making it highly suitable for families to come and admire the red maples and spend quality time immersed in the fragrant natural surroundings.
