The “2014 Taiwan International Boat Show” is the largest international professional yacht exhibition in Asia, featuring the most exhibited vessels and a total exhibit value of NT$5 billion. The show displayed several state-of-the-art yachts that blend the ultimate in marine craftsmanship, aesthetics, and energy-saving efficiency, attracting the attention of many international yacht buyers. Countries around the world have high hopes for this first-ever Taiwanese-hosted event.

The largest yacht on display at the boat show is the “RP110,” built by the Kaohsiung-based Chi-Hong Group, the world’s fifth-largest custom luxury yacht manufacturer and also the latest recipient of Taiwan Excellence’s Gold Award. With a spacious leisure and entertainment area spanning 135 ping, it offers yacht owners a top-tier floating villa experience.Chia Hsin Yachts showcased their latest model, the “Monte Fino CAT 45 Sports Fish,” designed specifically for fishing enthusiasts. Its spacious cabin and lounge areas make it perfect for a group of friends to enjoy offshore angling together. Also on display was Taiwan’s first hybrid yacht—the “uGreen 45 Hybrid” by Nanhai Yachts. Other participating manufacturers such as Ya Gang, Superstar, Lung Yang, Johnson, and Tong Yi were thrilled to host Taiwan’s first-ever yacht show in their home country, especially after nearly six decades of international recognition for Taiwanese yachts. They hope this exhibition will further elevate

In addition to strong support from Taiwanese yacht manufacturers, the inaugural exhibition also attracted enthusiastic participation from numerous international yacht, parts, and equipment makers. Exhibitors included Germany’s Hanse and Sweden’s Delta, as well as 36 parts suppliers from countries such as Australia, the United States, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Italy, Singapore, Hong Kong, mainland China, and Indonesia. Among them, Australia, the United States, and mainland China participated as national pavilions. The chairman of the Australian Maritime Export Group (AIMEX), the organizer of the Australian Pavilion, stated that Australian parts suppliers highly value Taiwan’s strong capabilities in building large yachts. They are also optimistic that Taiwan’s first yacht show will attract many Asian buyers. As a result, Australia assembled 15 exhibitors. This also signals Taiwan’s transition from a yacht manufacturing hub to a yacht marketing base.

Attracting 30,000 potential domestic and international buyers, industry professionals, and visitors

The yacht show will welcome back MIT (Made in Taiwan) yacht owners from around the world, while also attracting international dignitaries interested in Taiwanese yachts to experience their exquisite craftsmanship firsthand. Nearly 1,000 foreign dignitaries have already registered or been confirmed for invitation through online pre-registration. One of the biggest advantages of holding the exhibition within an industrial cluster is the convenience for buyers to drive to nearby shipyards—about a 30-minute drive away—for visits alongside the exhibition, helping to shorten their decision-making time for placing orders.

Taiwanese yacht parts and equipment manufacturers have also drawn interest from internationally renowned shipyards, such as Sea Ray Boats under the Brunswick Group, the world’s largest yacht manufacturing conglomerate, the well-known American speedboat manufacturer Malibu, the French luxury yacht group Beneteau Group, and the historic Spanish shipyard Rodman Polyship, all of which have sent senior procurement executives to Taiwan for sourcing.

Beyond overseas dignitaries, the yacht show has also attracted nearly 500 senior executives from well-known domestic companies who have booked visits in advance. Additionally, over 10,000 tickets were sold through Taiwan’s 7-Eleven ibon ticketing kiosks before the event. The four-day exhibition is expected to draw around 30,000 visitors from both domestic and international markets.

13 exhibition fringe events to create Taiwan’s most exciting maritime extravaganza

To help visitors gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s yacht industry and marine knowledge, the organizers have arranged a variety of engaging fringe activities. These include the “Marine Academy” to expand ocean knowledge, the “Maritime Generation Symposium” to explore sailing culture, and the “Yacht Industry Forum & Seminar” offering a global maritime perspective—totaling 13 events. These diverse programs provide visitors with new insights into the ocean and help establish and develop a uniquely Taiwanese maritime consciousness and water-friendly culture.

In the past, Taiwanese yacht makers had to send their luxury yachts abroad to participate in international shows. This time, the best of Taiwan-made yachts are on full display, joined by many renowned foreign brands, allowing visitors to enjoy a world-class yacht show without leaving the country. Aside from purchasing tickets for on-site viewing, admiring the yachts from the sea offers another creative option—seeing these sleek, beautifully designed luxury vessels from a unique perspective. Zhuang Ming-liao, a director of the Taiwan Yacht Industry Association, also emphasized that the Taiwan International Yacht Show is one of only three major indoor exhibitions for luxury yachts in the world, alongside the Düsseldorf Boat Show in Germany and the Genoa Boat Show in Italy. The scale of setup required is truly remarkable, making it a must-visit event for the public.
