Hailing from the United States, the Pilobolus Dance Theatre, hailed by The New York Times as the most creative contemporary dance group, is like a real-life Transformer. Through limitless physical transformations, they transcend the boundaries of imagination to create all kinds of incredible imagery — in the blink of an eye transforming into a girl with a dog’s head, or assembling human bodies into the Eiffel Tower or Empire State Building. These spectacular performances not only earned them the honor of performing at the 79th Academy Awards, but also won recognition from numerous art and dance awards. Oprah Winfrey and The Ellen DeGeneres Show have also sung their praises.

This performance tells the absurd journey of a girl on the verge of adulthood and her magical world, blending elements of shadow play, dance, and acrobatics. By using human bodies to transform into scenes within the story, and projecting fluid and playful images through light and shadow, it pioneers a new form of performing arts that will take Taiwanese audiences into a surreal world where reality and fantasy intertwine.

For the encore segment of Pilobolus Dance Theatre’s global tour of Shadowland, they incorporate local culture and music. Classic scenes such as Broadway in New York and Big Ben in London have been featured. This time in Taiwan, they will naturally design segments representing Taiwanese cultural spirit, such as dragon boats, the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, and bubble tea... The organizers revealed that among the Taiwanese songs sent to Pilobolus, the group loved the song "Enter the Formation" by Mayday the most, so it has been chosen as the encore piece for the Taipei performance.
