The Tenkawa Project is returning to Osaka once again. "Tenkawa" means "Milky Way." On Tanabata, as the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl traverse the heavenly galaxy, the Tenkawa Project responds in kind by creating an earthly galaxy where wishing orbs drift along the river, crafting an unforgettable light river scene — a unique spectacle for this summer’s Tanabata festival.

This event is expected to release 50,000 wishing orbs, featuring LED lighting effects and promoting energy conservation. Each orb carries the wishes of individuals. The main event area spans from Tenma Bridge to Kitahama along the Okawa River in Osaka, where the public can freely view the display from the riverbanks. There is also a paid viewing area, and releasing a wishing orb requires purchasing a ticket — presale tickets are 1,000 yen, while those sold on the day are 1,500 yen.

The event begins at 6:00 PM on July 7th, with the wishing orb release taking place from 7:20 PM to 9:00 PM. The event will proceed even in light rain. Food stalls will also be set up nearby, allowing visitors to enjoy the riverside scenery while savoring delicious food — ensuring friends, couples, and families create unforgettable memories, deepen their bonds, and embrace the romantic spirit of Tanabata, making it the most magical night of summer.
