The Qixi Festival in 2014 was absolutely dazzling!
The “Taipei Dadaocheng Music and Fireworks Festival,” hosted by the Taipei City Government, will romantically kick off on Qixi Festival (August 2). To help everyone better experience this year’s theme of “Love Without Limits,” in addition to arranging wonderful performances and stunning fireworks displays at the event site,a series of activities will be launched in the surrounding areas of Dadaocheng starting from July 26, immersing the public in the sweet atmosphere of a romantic lovers’ week and doubling the sense of happiness!

The “Taipei Dadaocheng Music and Fireworks Festival” enters its 10th year this year. It has expanded its invitations to well-known domestic and international performance guests to join the fun with the public, including the bands Qiangbian, Toffee Temple, as well as singers Power Station and Georgia Yee who will perform live with great energy. This year also marks the 80th anniversary of the release of the Taiwanese folk song “Rainy Night Flower.” Qiangbian has specially adapted a rock version of “Rainy Night Flower,” which will be performed live at the Dadaocheng Music and Fireworks Festival. In addition, the Okinawan Live House rock band “Skunk,” which won the 2010 Okinawa Teens Live competition in the Asian International Music Festival, will also showcase their energetic performances, celebrating love in Taipei on Qixi.

This year’s fireworks festival not only integrates surrounding business district activities, including events launched by Datong District Office, Taipei Underground Street, Ningxia Night Market, and the Back Station/Huayin Business District, offering a range of favorable deals and distinctive cultural activities, but it also speciallycollaborates with Ningxia Night Market to launch the “Paper Panda Love Without Limits 214 Lovers’ Banquet” from July 31 to August 2.For just 214 NTD, couples can enjoy Ningxia Night Market’s specialty snacks, with a daily limit of 10 sets. There are two set menu options available: “Two Innocent Children” and “Love Each Other Deeply,” each consisting of five different specialty snacks. This allows couples to savor the local delicacies of Ningxia Night Market together in the company of paper pandas. Starting July 26, the public can make phone reservations to enjoy the meal. In addition, the city government has also collaborated with Taipei City Xiahai Chenghuang Temple, commissioning Litingxiang Cake Shop to produce “Marriage Destiny Cakes,” symbolizing good marital fortune, helping citizens find their perfect matches.

On the day, there will also be the Matsuyama Daiseika Lion Drum Team from Japan, a professional lion dance group, collaborating exclusively with Taiwan’s wildly popular children’s entertainment group, YOYO Family from Eastern TV, putting on a joint performance that is 100% eye-catching. Everyone is welcome to bring their families to Dadaocheng Wharf on Qixi Festival to admire the beautiful fireworks and celebrate a romantic Valentine’s Day. Additionally, on the day of the event, whether you’re a couple, friends, colleagues, or even pets, as long as you’re wearing matching outfits or accessories, take a photo, check in, and upload it to redeem a sweet chocolate treat—showcasing your love on Qixi Festival.
