The 2014 【Summer Jazz Party at the National Theater & Concert Hall】 once again gathers elite talents from the domestic and international jazz scenes. For the indoor concerts, special guests include globally renowned legendary drummer Jimmy Cobb, jazz guitar gentleman John Pizzarelli, Cuban legendary trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, and dazzling jazz diva Roberta Gambarini, who will come to Taiwan to present the most captivating and masterful performances for local audiences. For the outdoor party, this year sees the first-ever invitation to both domestic and international a cappella groups, adding even more diversity and melody to the jazz repertoire, sparkling and soaring under the midsummer night sky.

Kicking off the 【Summer Jazz Party at the National Theater & Concert Hall】 as always is the outdoor party. On the evening of August 8, Australia’s heavyweight a cappella vocal group “The Idea of North” will interpret classic jazz pieces with bright and powerful tones, bringing their impeccable heavenly harmonies close to the audience. The Cuban jazz band Soy La Ley stays true to its mission of blending jazz with Cuban music, allowing listeners to experience the unpredictability of jazz improvisation within Latin rhythms.From Rumba, Danzon, Salsa to Latin Jazz, band leader Xu Chongyu hopes to bring the sounds of Harlem and Latin culture back to Taiwan, spreading music and also rooting culture.On August 9, the youthful and vibrant elite big band from the National Theater & Concert Hall Jazz Music Camp will open the show, with these high school and university jazz enthusiasts radiating the pure infectious love for music.In the second half of the concert that day, the award-winning and captivating “O-Kai Singers” — recipients of the 24th Golden Melody Awards for Best Vocal Group — will take the stage as the finale, keeping the explosive energy going.

The 2014 【Summer Jazz Party at the National Theater & Concert Hall】 will run from August 15 to September 13, inviting internationally renowned jazz artists to perform once a week.It kicks off on August 15 with legendary drummer Jimmy Cobb leading the way, joined by internationally acclaimed Latin jazz trumpet master Michael Mossman, Grammy-nominated saxophonist Antonio Hart, and elite musicians from the Summer Jazz Festival Orchestra including Huang Ruifeng, Wei Guangfg, Dong Shunwen, Peng Yuwen, Li Chengyu, Yamada Yohei, Zhang Kundei, Wu Zhengjun, and Liao Zhiming, who will compete in musical brilliance. Together, they will combine to create distinctly different jazz styles with vibrant performances.
