To give the public a chance to experience the convenience of the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Xitou Line, hosted by Nantou County Government in collaboration with the popular attraction Monster Village on the shuttle route, the "Ghost Tourist Shuttle" was launched on the first day of Ghost Month. The monster-packed shuttle departed from Taichung, with participants dressed up as terrifying ghosts and ghouls. Even the driver got in on the fun, dressing as a vampire with sharp fangs, scaring many passersby along the way. A family of four also dressed up as skulls, drawing attention with their adorable yet spooky look—especially the three-year-old little monster, who was a big hit. Several young women also participated, dressing as female ghosts from Japan, Korea, and China. Their creepy makeup attracted many people eager to take photos with them.

Monster Village has also prepared a series of exciting activities to welcome monsters coming to celebrate from all over. These include Japan’s Hyakkiyakō (Night Parade of One Hundred Demons), ninja performance and martial arts workshops by Iga Ueno Ninja, as well as a debut joint performance by the “Nine Heavens Art Dance Troupe,” which starred in the film “Zhentou,” and the “Tianxiang Taiko Drum Troupe,” which has represented Taiwan in competitions in Japan—offering the audience a double treat for the eyes and ears.

Celebrating Ghost Month on the first day of the seventh lunar month is no longer a taboo topic to avoid. Especially at Monster Village on the Xitou Line, the destination is famous for its playful and spooky atmosphere. The village’s celebration will continue until August 10. Visitors can take advantage of summer vacation to ride the convenient Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Xitou Line, travel to Xitou, and have fun with the monsters.The route also features many worthwhile attractions worth visiting, such as the DIY-friendly Zhushan Industrial Zone Sightseeing Factory, Taiwan’s most beautiful forest elementary school—Neihu National School—or enjoying a cup of tea in the Lugu Tea Region. Everyone is welcome to hop on the train and explore the hidden gems of Nantou.
