Jacob’s Well is located in the small town of Wimberley in west-central Texas, USA. Though not surrounded by stunning landscapes, its crystal-clear waters and unfathomably deep natural black hole draw large crowds every year. Aside from being a popular summer retreat, the well is especially famous for its depth—nearly 40 meters, about the height of a 13-story building—which easily surpasses other artificial diving spots. This draws many daring divers to climb up the rocky cliffs and leap into the abyss, experiencing the thrill of diving into this endless black hole.

In recent years, changes in the terrain have caused the spring water of Jacob’s Well to stop flowing, allowing scientists and divers to begin exploring deeper sections. Looking down into the well’s 4-meter-wide opening, one can only see about 10 meters down. To venture further, specialized diving equipment is required to navigate the rugged and intricate passageways inside, which eventually lead to one of the largest underwater cave systems in Texas.
