The Dihua business district has long been a famous tourist attraction in Taiwan, with the annual Taipei New Year Shopping Street and Dadaocheng Fireworks Festival drawing huge crowds. As times have changed, distinctive cultural and creative shops can now be seen all over Dihua Street. This “Dihua Vitality Market” invites local shops to jointly present the current diverse face of Dihua Street, injecting new cultural and creative elements into the traditional New Year goods, symbolizing the future gradual transformation of the New Year Shopping Street towards an integration of old and new.Wu Ronghe, chairman of the Taipei Dihua Business District Development Promotion Association, stated that due to changes in consumer patterns, world-renowned tea, traditional Chinese medicine, and dried goods have gradually remained only in the memories of the older generation. He hopes that through the “Dihua Vitality Market,” young people will gain a better understanding of traditional Chinese medicine and dried goods, enabling these traditional products to better integrate into the lives of the younger generation.

This “Dihua Vitality Market” invites local shops to join in the celebration, using CI branding tailored for the Dadaocheng business district by the Taipei City Department of Commerce and shipping wooden crates made with wheat-stamp artistry passed down since the 19th century. Retro-style plain fabric is used to print shop signs, specially integrating the architectural style of Dihua Street to create a special atmosphere distinct from the usual Dadaocheng. In addition to the historical and cultural characteristics of Dihua Street, the market also incorporates local industry types, designing a series of 600 creative packaging combinations of traditional Chinese medicine and dried goods — “My Vitality Day,” including lively health-boosting teas and soothing sleep teas, using playful package names to attract younger crowds to discover the Dihua Street of today.; The “Da-Dao-Tian – Sweet Memories of the Five Senses” micro-exhibition at URS127 even invited student art groups from various universities and colleges to design themes for Dihua Street such as... (text cut off) ..., allowing the public to experience the rich cultural essence of the area. During the event, shuttle bus services are provided (every 30 minutes), and some shops offer product discounts—for example, the Snow Frog Milk, originally priced at 150 NTD per cup, is available for 80 NTD per cup. Additionally, event purchases come with souvenirs such as junk boat-themed tea bags or junk boat bookmarks/postcards. The public is welcome to come and experience a Dihua Street unlike any other.

In addition, during the “2014 Taipei Shopping Festival,” consumers in Taipei City who make purchases of any amount and keep their receipts or invoices can log onto the official website to enter a lucky draw. Accumulating 100 NTD earns one lottery chance, and shopping at participating businesses or within the business district multiplies winning odds by ten. Spending a total of 100,000 NTD grants a hundredfold increase in chances. The more you spend, the higher your chances of winning.
