The previously disconnected sections of the Shizitou Island riverside bike path in Taipei have now been completed, making the Taipei riverside cycling network even more comprehensive. Cycling around Shizitou Island allows you to admire the beautiful mangrove scenery nearby, as well as the rich wetland ecology including fiddler crabs and Kandelia obovata. Arriving at dusk to ride with the evening breeze and gaze at the sunset over Guandu is truly relaxing.

The Shizitou Island riverside bike path was previously interrupted by two gaps, forcing cyclists to detour onto inner embankment roads and share lanes with motor vehicles, making it inconvenient as they had to keep entering and exiting the embankment. Now, with the new dedicated bike lanes built at the gaps, the entire Shizitou Island bike path has been connected, spanning nearly 9 kilometers in total and taking about one hour to complete a full loop.

Shizitou Island is located at the confluence of the Keelung River and the Tamsui River, with a sandy shoal terrain. The area is filled with rice paddies and lush vegetable fields, showcasing the simple and rustic beauty of old rural villages. The island features bike paths built along the embankments, attracting many cycling enthusiasts. At the sandy tip of Shizitou Island, you can witness the powerful convergence of the Keelung and Tamsui Rivers. Arriving in the evening also offers a distant view of the sunset over Guandu.

To the south, the route connects to the left bank bike path near Bailin Bridge, where there are many large sports courts. It's common to see famous domestic and international teams practicing here. While cycling, you can also enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the open sports squares filled with people. The Erchong Floodway Circular Bike Path is 24 kilometers long, passing through embankment roads into park areas. With various themed riverside green spaces, cyclists can choose their preferred scenery to enjoy a leisurely time and pedal their own sense of freedom.
