After a long wait, Mister Donut has once again synchronized with Japan to launch a brand-new series of doughnuts with an exceptionally soft texture, aiming to sweep the dessert market once more with a Japanese-inspired sweet theme. This time, the focus is on crafting a seasonally limited Fluffy series of doughnuts with a richly cake-like soft texture and sweet-and-sour flavors.Currently available in four flavors: icing, strawberry, lemon, and b han? (priced between NT$30–35).Highlighting a texture unlike any before, the latest specially formulated powder is used, with a significant increase in the amount of high-quality locally produced eggs with traceability from Taiwan added during the production process — the egg content is over 3 times higher than in other doughnuts. Additionally, the dough of the Fluffy series is whipped to incorporate more air, replacing moisture with air, resulting in a cake-like soft texture. The subtle eggy and milky aroma is reminiscent of French soufflé, which is why Mister Donut has named this new series the “Fluffy Series.” With the launch of this new line of doughnuts, Mister Donut hopes to offer everyone the chance to enjoy the diverse flavors of doughnuts once again.

Additionally, as various dessert brands gear up to join the Mid-Autumn gifting battle, Mister Donut’s 2023 Mid-Autumn gift boxes combine Japanese-style desserts with local Taiwanese ingredients. Two gift box options are available: the Mister Donut Crispy Pancake Gift Box and the Mister Donut Moon Viewing Chestnut Gift Box, both priced at NT$500. The “Moon Viewing Chestnut Gift Box” features the popular Japanese Momoyama-style mooncake fillings, reimagined with a ‘dual-texture’ concept, introducing two brand-new filling flavors using locally grown taro and sweet potato from Taiwan, along with original sesame paste and a fragrant chestnut filling. Furthermore, this year also includes more nuts, red bean paste flavors, and even a black sesame filling, offering a variety of textures and tastes to cater to different age groups and preferences within families.

Mister Donut stated that the shape and unique texture of desserts remain key factors in attracting consumers. Therefore, this summer, Mister Donut specifically focused on soft-textured doughnuts to enhance a refreshing taste upon eating. For flavors, they zeroed in on Taiwan’s popular strawberry, lemon, and b han? flavors, capturing a summery vibe. To further respond to consumers' evolving taste preferences, Mister Donut also observed from past summer sales data that people tend to prefer soft-textured sweets during this season. These not only appeal mostly to female customers and children but also drive a more than 20% increase in store foot traffic on regular days, leading to a 1–2% growth in doughnut sales. Therefore, this year Mister Donut has introduced the new Fluffy series of doughnuts synchronized with Japan, using a newly imported formulation powder. For the strawberry and matcha flavors, a touch of rich chocolate sauce is added to elevate the taste, allowing Taiwanese consumers to experience the latest trends in Japanese desserts.

To reinforce its image as a go-to destination for unique gifting ideas, Mister Donut has consistently broken away from tradition by developing festival-limited gift boxes characterized by innovative flavors, playful designs, and high-quality packaging. For example, this year’s Mid-Autumn gift boxes feature a blend of Japanese desserts and local ingredients. The Mister Donut Crispy Pancake Gift Box introduces two new crust flavors using Japanese Uji matcha and seaweed, with rich chocolate and soft red bean paste fillings in between, bringing new twists to mooncake flavors. Meanwhile, the Mister Donut Moon Viewing Chestnut Gift Box, which combines Japanese, Cantonese, and Chinese pastry styles, offers flavors such as taro sesame paste, purple sweet potato chestnut, Japanese Momoyama-style mooncakes, and more. In addition to the traditional Japanese Momoyama-style mooncakes made with red bean paste crusts, choices like sweet potato taro pastry and Cantonese red bean paste mooncakes are also available. Among them, the sweet potato taro pastry uses a golden ratio of 7:3 pineapple to sugar, increasing the amount of Tai-Nong No. 17 Golden Diamond pineapples while reducing winter melon and sugar content, significantly lowering the sweetness level to meet healthier taste preferences. Its round shape also better resonates with the symbolism of reunion during Mid-Autumn.
