East Japan Railway Company (President & CEO: Tetsuro Tomita, Headquarters: Taito City, Tokyo; hereinafter referred to as "JR East Japan") and Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (President & CEO: Yoshiharu Ueki, Headquarters: Shinagawa City, Tokyo; hereinafter referred to as "JAL"),In order to strengthen efforts to increase the number of travelers visiting Japan and to work towards Japan’s goal of becoming a tourism-oriented nation, the two parties have agreed to jointly operate a travel agency in Taiwan through their respective group companies.

VIEW TRAVEL SERVICE, a company under the JR East Japan Group, will acquire 49% of the shares in CREATIVETOUR TRAVEL SERVICE CO., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "CTT"), a subsidiary of JALPAK Inc. (a company under the JAL Group) in Taiwan, and will jointly manage this business. To realize the concept of "establishing roots in the region and expanding globally" as outlined in the "Group Management Vision 50 Moving Forward," JR East Japan Group is strengthening its collaboration with the JAL Group through investment in CTT. It also aims to further expand the flow of people by introducing new railway tour products in the Taiwanese market.

Asia is expected to see continued growth in the number of travelers visiting Japan. The JAL Group will leverage its extensive international flight network to attract more travelers from the region, further strengthen collaboration with the JR East Japan Group, andenhance the value ofJapan travel products primarily focused on individual travel.

Through this collaboration,the JR East Japan Group and JAL Group will leverage their respective strengths on "land" and "air" to develop new travel products. From a medium- to long-term perspective,they aim to set the development of travelers from Asia to Japan as a challenge, with CTT as the base.
