Stand in front of the red gate of the old military dependents' village, take selfies, and feel as if you've stepped into a cypress wood house from the Japanese colonial era. Lane 321 of Park Road holds stories of bygone days. This area is a municipal historic site that was once the officers' quarters of the former Japanese Army's Second Infantry Regiment. Many notable figures from Tainan have lived here, such as Teacher Kuo Kuo-chuan, and even Director Ang Lee once resided nearby. The existence of these old houses is a historical treasure long shared by the citizens of Tainan.

Step into the artistic enclave at the entrance of Lane 321, where the playful imagery of the street signs guides you. Push open the small red door of the old military village, and the old trees framing the aged houses make them even more charming. The 321 Art Village integrates art, culture, and ecology within the park, revitalizing it into an arts community. Located in a quiet alleyway near the train station and transportation hub, it serves as an “urban oasis” amidst the hustle and bustle. Recently, after being taken over by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, it has been planned as a pilot-themed art village. Efforts continue to secure restoration funds to make it the most distinctive heritage art village in the cultural ancient capital.
