Located in Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park, Bo Trach District and Minh Hóa District, Quảng Bình Province, Vietnam, Son Doong Cave lies 500 kilometers south of Hanoi and is the largest single cave passage ever discovered, stretching over 5.5 miles (approximately 8,880 meters), often referred to as a cave corridor. Its vast space could even fit a 40-story skyscraper and a Boeing aircraft inside. The park is home to a total of 150 caves, only a few of which are open to tourists.

Son Doong Cave is filled with staggeringly massive natural stalagmites, even impressing seasoned explorers. Inside the cave, there are also rare stalagmite terraces with a height difference of up to 50 meters. Experts believe Son Doong Cave was formed when rainwater seeped through limestone layers, dissolving and accumulating over time to create underground rivers. As the force of the flowing water increased, it carved out this colossal cave. The terrain here is truly one of a kind—aside from common cave features, it also includes streams, jungles, lava formations, and moss. With the occasional beam of sunlight filtering through, it feels like a hidden paradise beneath the earth.
