Kaohsiung City hosted its first event in 2014The “Qijin Black Sand Rock Festival” will kick off with great fanfare at Qijin Beach on October 11, and the Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau has specially organized a “Capture the Wild Black Sand Rock” photo check-in lottery event, giving away a total of 30 Polaroid cameras. Travelers are welcome to visit Qijin during the National Day holiday to rock out, take photos of the event, check in on social media, and win great prizes！

With the slogan “Love Kaohsiung with rock music, support Kaohsiung with music,” the Qijin Black Sand Rock Festival invites bands from across the country to compose exclusive songs for Kaohsiung. Dozens of musical groups competed fiercely through preliminary and final rounds, and will face off in the finals at Qijin on October 11. The event will also feature a beach volleyball championship, as well as performances by multiple bands, includingThat’s What You Said, Chen Jianwei, Echo, and Rivertree, ensuring non-stop excitement from afternoon to evening at Qijin Beach.

Director Hsu Chuan-sheng stated that Qijin is a highly popular tourist attraction in Kaohsiung, with around 5.77 million visitors last year. The recently completed Qijin Coastal Protection Project integrates coastal facilities such as the beach, windmill park, and shell museum, offering a high-quality waterfront space. In early September, a large-scale public art installation “Golden Sea Rhythm” was added, consisting of the ocean’s pearl “Sea Pearl” and six shell-shaped “Listening Points.” Strolling along the Windy Boulevard to admire the sunset and listen to the sound of the waves has become a new highlight of Qijin.
